It really made me think about how lame I was there, how few really daring, thoughtful shots I took.

Thanks for the link — the story's great too, I actually went to college with the guy who wrote it.

I don't think I ever got to see all your shots, but there was nothing in these coliseum photos that I feel like we missed. Maybe the aerial shot of the snake pit, or some better shots of the kids through windows.

Mostly, I think the lesson is to glom onto one character who can move the story through the event, so we're not just walking in off the street with a camera. They're telling the whole story of the roundup here, and my decision to make the trip, and do the shoot, was a lot more casual. Better to attack it with a little more determination.
